Maria completed a Bachelor of Civil Laws and a Masters of Laws at University College Cork, Ireland in 2008 and 2009. Upon moving to Western Australia, Maria completed a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice through the College of Law and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in May 2016.
Maria’s experience includes providing legal advice and representation to clients in relation to matters involving:
Property law disputes;
Commercial disputes and litigation;
Bankruptcy and Insolvency; and
In particular, Maria has had carriage of matters involving:
investigation of potential fraud on a client;
recovery of damages for defective workmanship; and
defending against adverse possession claims.
As part of the above, Maria is highly experienced in advising clients of prospects of success and negotiating commercial settlement when advantageous to the client.
Maria frequently appears in the Magistrates Court, District Court and Supreme Courts of Western Australia. She is passionate about client services and strives to achieve the most favourable outcomes for her clients in the most efficient and economical means possible.
Maria joined Edwards Mac Scovell in February 2019.
